Question #4

Q. How and why did God create us?

A. God created us male and female in his own image to glorify him.

BIG Idea

“Men and women are created by God, in his image and for his glory.” 

As man, we have been given the distinct and unique privilege to bear God’s image to all Creation. This means two things. First, it means that every human is special and valuable. From the youngest to the oldest, every man and woman and boy and girl, is full of worth and should be treated as such. Second, it means that our ultimate purpose in life is to live for God and his glory. Our great goal should be to live in a way that all Creation knows we belong to God. We were created by God and for God!

Weekly Bible Passage and Monthly Memory Verse

Passage: Genesis 1:26-31

Monthly Memory Verse: “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” (Genesis 1:27)

Prayer (ACTS Method)

These are ways to pray in light of the truth learned this week. Of course, pray for other things as a family!

·      Adoration: Praise God for being the Creator, who is deserving of all glory.

·      Confession: Confess sins, like pride and hatred, when we do not live for God and when we do not treat our neighbors like they are made in God’s image.

·      Thanksgiving: Thank God that we have been given purpose in this life: to live for him!

·      Supplication: Ask God for grace to live for him wholeheartedly, seeking his glory in our homes, in our vocations, and in our church.
