The New City Catechism

Question #34

Q. Since we are redeemed by grace alone, through Christ alone, must we still do good works and obey God’s Word?

A. Yes, so that our lives may show love and gratitude to God; and so that by our godly behavior others may be won to Christ.

BIG Idea

“Christians have been made citizens of heaven, which should affect the way we live in this world.”

Weekly Bible Passage and Monthly Memory Verse

Passage: 1 Peter 2:9-12

Monthly Memory Verse: “16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.” (John 3:16-18)

Prayer (ACTS Method)

These are ways to pray in light of the truth learned this week. Of course, pray for other things as a family!

·      Adoration: Praise God for the work of sanctification.

·      Confession: Confess when we do not live as those redeemed.

·      Thanksgiving: Thank God that he provides grace to grow in conformity to Christ.

·      Supplication: Ask God to bless the upcoming small group semester.
