BIG Idea

“Every person is a slave to sin. In order to be freed, we must be redeemed; a price must be paid in order to secure a release.”

Sin is a terrible master. It keeps you in bondage and gives only judgement and death as its reward. We desperately need to be freed from the penalty, power, and presence of sin… we need a Redeemer! God has provided us the only Redeemer in the Lord Jesus Christ. Christ has paid our debt by taking it upon Himself on the cross. Because Jesus died in our place and rose again, we now belong to Him as our perfect Master and Lord. What a wonderful truth!

Weekly Bible Passage and Monthly Memory Verse

Passage: 1 Timothy 2:1-7

Monthly Memory Verse: “11 For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, 12 training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, 13 waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.” (Titus 2:11-14)

Prayer (ACTS Method)

These are ways to pray in light of the truth learned this week. Of course, pray for other things as a family!

·      Adoration: Praise God for the person of Jesus!

·      Confession: Confess self-righteousness that seeks to redeem ourselves by our own works and merit.

·      Thanksgiving: Thank God that we belong to Him as our perfect Master.

·      Supplication: Ask God for grace that we would tell others about the Redeemer.
