BIG Idea
“God’s law is still relevant for the Christian, and it requires obedient and loving lives.”
Although the law is impossible to save, Christians recognize that it plays an important role in their lives. First, it drives us to recognize our complete and total need for Jesus. Second, it shows us the way that God desires us to live as those who are made right by God through faith alone by grace alone. It is important then that we use God’s law, lawfully, trusting that by the Spirit’s power, He will grant us grace to walk in obedience, loving God and loving our neighbor.
Weekly Bible Passage and Monthly Memory Verse
Passage: Matthew 22:34-40
Monthly Memory Verse: “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” (Genesis 1:27)
Prayer (ACTS Method)
These are ways to pray in light of the truth learned this week. Of course, pray for other things as a family!
· Adoration: Praise God for being holy and for revealing himself as such in his law.
· Confession: Confess lovelessness and disobedience, when we despise God and our neighbor by not keeping the law.
· Thanksgiving: Thank God that we have been given the perfect righteousness of Christ, by grace alone through faith alone.
· Supplication: Ask God for grace to grow in love for him and for those around us.
