BIG Idea
“The law of God has been kept perfectly only by Jesus. No other human has, is, or will be able to keep God’s law.”
The law of God is perfect. Man, in contrast, is sinful. We are unable to keep the law of God. In thought, word, and deed, we break the 10 Commandments daily. Our inability to obey God’s holy law, therefore, reveals our desperate need for a Savior. Jesus Christ is that Savior, who came and lived the perfect life we never could. He obeyed and kept the law of God! We are saved, then, not only by His death, but, also, His life! We need someone to keep the law of God on our behalf, and Jesus has done that for us. It is glorious!
Weekly Bible Passage and Monthly Memory Verse
Passage: Romans 3:9-28
Monthly Memory Verse: “…for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God's righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins. It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.” (Romans 3:23-26)
Prayer (ACTS Method)
These are ways to pray in light of the truth learned this week. Of course, pray for other things as a family!
· Adoration: Praise God that He has provided His law, so we might learn about His holy character.
· Confession: Confess our utter inability of keeping the law of God.
· Thanksgiving: Thank God that Jesus obeyed the law perfectly!
· Supplication: Ask God for grace to grow in humility, knowing our helplessness apart from grace.
